    We have shelves and..

shelves…and shelves! H pretty much designed the closets and did a pretty darn good job.  With all the shelves in place, I now realize how much storage space we are going to have. I can now be one of those Sam’s Club people! Not that I will, but you never know when a year’s worth of toilet paper will come in handy.  Do kids still wrap houses?………The real question is can I get a Sam’s Club size bottle of whiskey. Sam’s Club is the final stage of adulthood right? I mean if you have enough cash and storage for a whole case of toilet paper that pretty much screams adulting. …

    One Month Down…..

Well, it’s official.  We’ve been in the camper for exactly one month and so far, have survived.  Yeah, it’s not great and it’s sure not a fun camping trip but we’re making due.  Our biggest issue, beside constantly being on top of one another, is laundry.  We are using a portable RV washer and garment dryer.  It’s getting the job done but it does take a bit of babysitting.  One normal load of laundry can literally take all day to wash and dry.  We’ve started hanging tshirts, socks, and shorts out to dry instead of putting them in the “dryer”.  When the humidity is high (which is always), anything cotton…

    Time Flies……

Wow…it feels like it’s been forever since I’ve updated this blog. So much is happening that it’s hard to keep up….especially since I haven’t been home! Last Monday I flew to Memphis and spent the entire week training in north east Arkansas for my new job.  I flew home Friday, spent Saturday and Sunday (today) working on getting ready to move.  As I write this, I’m in Houston so I can get to my morning flight to Tampa for home office training in St. Petersburg, FL tomorrow!  I’ll fly home Friday and we plan to move to our new location this weekend! Fortunately, Rusty is totally capable of holding down…

    All aboard!!

This past weekend, my sister came down for a long weekend from Michigan. She claims it was to visit my parents but I think it was to escape Michigan’s extended winter.  The weekend was full of the typical sisters reunited shenanigans…margaritas, mexican food, wine, movies, walks, avoiding parental responsibilities, and picking on Mom. Speaking of Mom, she has become fascinated with the Austin Steam Train in Cedar Park and this weekend, we went along for the ride…..she had us at mimosas.  The train travels between Austin and Burnet and is a historical restoration.  The train was used in the 1800s to move granite from Marble Falls to the State Capitol. …

Hiking the Pecan Flats Trail at Inks Lake

Some of my ideas are great….and some of my ideas are clouded like the memory of child birth in a mother pregnant with her second child.  D and I came up to the Texas Hill Country to visit my parents. With no plans and limited cash due to the house building, if we did something I wanted to do something cheap that would wear a 15 year old out (because let’s be honest, it’s the only way to live with him).  After much discussion, we agreed to visit Inks Lake State Park and do a hike (I would like to point out that ALL able minded adults agreed i.e. my…

I think about running away more now…

than I ever did as a kid.  To be honest, I probably only seriously thought about running away once as a kid and my big plan was to camp in the bushes in front of the house.  In my defense, it was a pretty secure location but I hadn’t figured out where to get food or bathroom facilities so I ended up conceding defeat and doing whatever Mom said. However, now, as an adult running way seems like a legit way of dealing with problems some days.  It started when we went on our first cruise and the ability to just not be reachable was literally freedom from all of…
